The Ocular Expert services include the following: Review of medical records including: personal injury, workers compensation, product liability cases as well as independent medical exams. Vision and perception issues in motor vehicle accidents. Standard of care determinations. Disability and impairment ratings. Fitness for duty determinations in patients with impairment of vision, visual field, depth perception, and/or color vision. Expert witness work: affidavits, depositions, testimony at hearings and court proceedings.
  • EYE EXAMINATIONDepending on the medical history and symptoms, an independent medical eye examination may either address a specific problem or involve a comprehensive examination. A complete eye examination includes: Measurement of visual acuity. Refraction to determine for updated optical prescription. Examination of eye movement and eye muscle balance. Glaucoma testing. Testing for cataracts. Microscopic examination of the corneal, iris, and lens. Examination of the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels. Possible dilation of the pupils to examine the peripheral portion of the retina. And other tests, if necessary. Independent Medical Examination (IME) An IME is often performed to assess injuries to the eye and their impact on vision.  Depending on the specific situation, an Independent Medical Examination evaluates a variety of issues that may include causation, levels of impairment, and prognostic implications.  A report is often generated shortly after an IME for use by counsel.  Often an IME with relevent and accurate information can facilitate resolution of a case.  IMEs may be scheduled here. Special Testing Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) may used to assess the retinal nerve fiber layer.  It is useful in cases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.
